I was sold it by my vet as an alternative to comfortis , I'm not a fan of using any chemicals but I've exhausted the natural remedies including Avon sss. But Charlie was still picking up ticks , culminating in one on Friday that I couldn't remove and a trip to the vets was required needing two vets to remove the stubborn little thing.
After reading the scare stories I refused to give it to Charlie and they refunded me and I settled on a seresto collar (advantage) because at least I can remove it if Charlie has a reaction , to me these oral chemicals are a gamble because if it goes wrong you are stuffed !

Trouble is we take a gamble with everything we use, any dog can have a reaction to anything at anytime, i dont think there is an easy answer as to what is the best to use or what is good or bad... xx

Vet has given me Advocate for my pooches as it has lungworm preventative in it. I only got it because I felt the pooches needed protection before they go in boarding kennels.

I just hope there will be no nasty side effects..xx

Never used it Nick - sorry .. but I have used Advocate and none of mine have had reactions to the Advocate. This said, I don't use it 'as per' ... I only ever used it when they went to Maxine's but they wont be going there anymore now. So until they do go 'somewhere', I won't use anything from the vets on them. The Avon SSS is good against fleas but not for Ticks Nick. I've used this for a long time now and touch wood, everything is just fine ...... and I hope it continues
