Question Wireless Containment System

Has anyone tried one of these wireless containment systems? I call them an invisible fence. I do know that they will shock your dog if they go across the beam, but training them prevents that with some effort by the owner. It has an audible warning when they get within like 3 meters of the boundary. My first impression is cruelty...what say you?

Bad bad bad bad bad, I hate anything like this, should be band. If you need boundaries make them physical objects.

I made a thread on one of these ages ago ... something like this ... http://intl.petsafe.net/en-gb/fencing ............. I'm not so sure about it to be honest but I didn't think they felt any shock ????? It depends on whether they feel anything and if they do, then it's cruel! Also, it would be like running into 'nowhere' .for them .. I often wonder if this would harm them psychologically if not physically ........... either one is as bad as the other though xx

Personally I don't like them, I say put a fence up.
It's not an electric shot as such. More a static shock! Sometimes I get static shocks from some surfaces, and I think the hurt! And give me a fright! So I think, yes they will traumatise a dog.

It's a gently form of what farmers use for their cows, I've touched one of these! They hurt! "Mad cow" springs to mind

I know what you mean I think Jenny ............ have you ever walked around a supermarket and had a shock from one of the freezer compartments? I have lol and, Dulcie used to get them all the time - not sure if she still does now actually but she used to do .... so it really wouldn't be good for our dogs would it
