Lyn, no there is no puppy class just sp yearling, open dog & open bitch, this is only our 2nd show, last time there was a puppy class for Lhasa apso. The show is judged on the group system held under kennel club rules and regulations ( as it says on the front of the schedule)
Do you think I should email the secretary and withdraw him from the stakes?
Just in case there are loads of entries lol x

Yes I would ring the secretary and ask to withdraw from the stakes IF it is going to be before the breed judging.
If he is placed in sp yearling and is the highest placed puppy he will automatically become BPIB and is then entitled to compete in the group.

Not yet, don't really know what to do, just afraid in case there are loads of entries in the stakes and not many in the sp yearling class

Well if there are not many in the S/Y, wouldn't this give you a better chance ? Unless I've missed the point lol (which is not difficult these days) lol .... the more in a class, the more competition against possible 'better dogs' .... this is not personal, it's just how it's 'said'. You may have the 'best' dog but it depends on the judge on the day and what that judge is looking for

This is what I mean, he would have a better chance of winning if there are less entries in the SY, but if he didn't win the stakes............ ?
He's still only 7 months, and we are all new to this. My mind keeps changing from entering him in both ( as I have done) and just entering him in the SY group. Also notice the cheque I posted for the entry fees hasn't came out of my account yet
